Voin de Voin and Stephanie Ballantine come together to offer an open platform for performance: a space to manifest an idea.

In search of a lost sensation, they offer an open platform, a speaker’s corner where messages can be heard. The platform is offered as a sacred space allowing statements regardless of affiliations, social standing, stratifications, or social correctness. They focus on the notion of identity as a political construct without reflecting traditional anarchist approaches. They ask for voluntary participation to contribute to the creation of a self governed institution, imagining alternative art platforms.

The questions of Manisensations derive from two points in contemporary culture:

Manifestation, the physical formulation of an idea. Sensation, the internal, a phenomenology that appears before language.
Manisensation – a formulated manifesto of ideas explored internally and implemented externally, the building of a ‘self-stitution’ (institution of the self) that is in itself a base for communication.
By joining those two idealist terms the aim is to dismantle tradition and hierarchy; arriving at new formulas, experiments, aesthetics and visionary grounding. New language is formed and establishes a place for this expression outside existing constructs and systems.
A silent procession, building of an altar, negative space confessional, and finally a birth of new manifesto are part of the side effects to help us achieve our goal.

Artists and viewers are asked to participate in a silent procession in the first hour. Free of documentation throughout the evening, the ritual will consist of building the performative altar, aiming to establish a realm of connectivity free of technological representations. So, please restrict yourself from taking photographs or videos during the evening.
N.B. to the visitor: please bring an object with you to the event – personal, found, or created.
During the evening the audience will be asked for their active participation in the negative space room where they will encounter our virtual  interpreter Andrew F. Smith, who will engage the audience in conversation live from New York to reflect on what they have seen. Examining language and ways of describing the actual course of events in the main space of the gallery through their observations
and reflections of the manisensations, interventions, infections on the space, micro political acts, he will configure a new manuscript that will also function as our future manifesto!

“People know what they do; frequently they know why they do what they
do; but what they don’t know is what what they do does.” (Foucault)
